Best Things In Life Are Free

With all the talk of economy (bad), saving money (good, in theory) and such, it’s easy to feel like you’re unable to enjoy fun to the level to which you’ve become accustomed.

Here are some fun and FREE things to discover, right in our backyard (for Atlanta readers!):

  • Free yoga & guided bike rides by Lululemon. The super-high end retailer that’s carved out a die-hard following of monied yogis and workout fanatics offers complimentary classes a couple of times a week. The Atlanta outposts include locations in Buckhead and Morningside.
  • Wednesday Wind Down at Centennial Park – April through September, the park has live music (from jazz to bluegrass to reggae) from 5:30 – 8 p.m. Bring a picnic and check it out – would be a neat date night.
  • Saturday Bootcamp at Piedmont Park – I’m a little obsessed with being fit (read: thinnest I’ve ever been) for the wedding (I’m not so sure it’s entirely healthy to think about it as much as I have been)… but surely anyone can benefit from a good sweat session. Operation Bootcamp does a “try it free” class at different locations each week, so you can see if their style is a fit for you. I’ve tried it – it’s a great workout!
  • Whole Foods Wine Tasting & Classes – most local WFs have complimentary programming designed to engage their customers. For instance, the Buckhead store is hosting a “blind” wine tasting… and it’s FREE. You just have to RSVP to reserve your spot. How fun!
  • Movies & the Market at Atlantic Station – Atlantic Station is having free outdoor movies on their lawn all summer long, on Thursday evenings. The films are mostly family-friendly (all three of the Shreck movies, Karate Kid, Mama Mia! and more) and parking is simple – in the expansive deck right below the complex.
  • Screen on the Green – Atlanta’s original, free outdoor movies return this year for five consecutive Thursdays, beginning May 27 at sundown. The schedule kicks off with National Treasure. This, in my humble opinion, is completely worth any hassle of parking, bugs, etc… it’s a great night “on the town” and excuse to pack a picnic on a school night.

So, go ahead… get your free on!
